What is Cascade de Saint-Cassin

The Cascade de Saint-Cassin falls from the last foothills of the Chartreuse massif, south of Chambéry: 'the stream throws itself into the Hyères on an almost vertical slope, letting it detach completely from the cliff', writes the tourist office. The site, along the old route nationale 6, is freely accessible, all year. It is often called the 'Cascade de Couz', after the neighbouring hamlet — the official sheets place it in the commune of Saint-Cassin.

The fall has its guest book: the sheet cites Rousseau, Lamartine and George Sand among the writers who came to admire it. On the other hand, no official sheet publishes the approach walk, parking, dog rules or safety precautions — so those stay absent here rather than invented.

Saint-Cassin or Couz waterfall?

How do you reach it?

The site is freely accessible along the old RN 6, but no official sheet describes the approach walk or parking — we do not invent them. Useful contact: Saint-Cassin town hall, +33 4 79 69 47 26.

Who made it famous?

The official sheet cites Rousseau, Lamartine and George Sand among the fall's illustrious visitors.

What makes it special?

Its verticality: 'the stream throws itself into the Hyères on an almost vertical slope, letting it detach completely from the cliff'.
