Waterfalls

A 90 m fall on the Esseillon forts tourist road, by the Saint-Benoît chapel. Free; road closed in winter, one-way uphill in summer, very limited parking.

The Py waterfall at Champagny-en-Vanoise: an 80 m drop at Le Laisonnay, footbridge at its foot, free access and stated wheelchair-accessible unassisted. A protected valley at the Vanoise gateway.

The Poux waterfall at Courchevel: 1 h on the botanical trail from the Rosière lake, an easy 2.7 km return, free, dogs accepted, 1 May to 31 October. Avoid in heavy rain.

A near-80 m fall born of a diversion tunnel dug from 1902, on a trail that passes more than 50 cascades of the Morel. Free, June to September.

A rehabilitated canyon reopened in 2021: cantilevered walkways lead to the Grésy waterfall and Queen Hortense's 1813 stele. Free, year-round, wheelchair accessible.

Three waterfalls on the Nant du Pontet at Chambéry's gates: a 2 h 15 waymarked loop (5.9 km), giant's kettles, the Nymphs' Bath and George Sand. Finest after rain — the advice is official.

A tufa-forming waterfall in the Bauges fed by the Tanne du Cochon, one of Savoie's deepest chasms (825 m). Very easy 7.5 km loop, about 2h, free.

The Vuzelle waterfall at Planay: around 100 m of drop, a site protected since 1935, trail from Chambéranger. The La Rochette approach is closed until further notice — both sources quoted.

Easy 1h30 loop from Place du Barioz in Pralognan-la-Vanoise to the Fraîche waterfall. Free, dogs allowed, open 15 May to 30 October.

The Saint-Cassin waterfall, known as the Cascade de Couz: a stream detaching from the cliff on the Chartreuse foothills, admired by Rousseau, Lamartine and George Sand. Free access all year.

A 60 m fall above Chambéry: a 1-hour loop from the Chaffardon car park, with a corniche section and a cabled passage. Free, 1 May to 31 October, not advised in wet weather.

Four waterfalls of the Guiers Vif at the head of a Chartreuse cirque. Paid parking in season (€5 per car), free access the rest of the year. Loops of 30 min and 1h30.
