What is Gorges du Sierroz and cascade de Grésy

The Gorges du Sierroz are a canyon rehabilitated by the Grand Lac agglomeration and open to the public since summer 2021, after decades of closure. The route follows two cantilevered footbridges fixed halfway up the rock walls, for a round trip of at most one hour to the Grésy waterfall. The site is listed national heritage.

At the waterfall stands a stele erected by Queen Hortense in 1813, beside restored industrial buildings — a sawmill, mills, an oil press. Access is free, year-round, every day; parking is on the route des Bauges and the entrance is 10–20 minutes on foot from a bus stop. The tourist office describes the route as wheelchair accessible without assistance — a rarity for a gorge site.
