The Cascade des Poux is reached from the Rosière lake (Courchevel Moriond, Avals valley) by the botanical trail: about 1 h and 2.7 km return, easy, around a hundred metres of climb, up to 1,645 m. 'In this luminous forest, the water's closeness is restful. Along the way, discover varied, rare and protected species', writes Courchevel Tourisme. Three large pools form the waterfall.
The site is free, open 'from 1 May to 31 October' subject to fair weather, and animals are accepted. The official warning deserves repeating as it stands: 'Do not set out in heavy rainfall'. Parking at La Rosière being 'sometimes complicated', the official advice is to park at the covered Cimes Blanches car park (free in summer) in Courchevel Moriond and take the shuttle to the site entrance.
From 1 May to 31 October, outside heavy-rain spells. The trail is waymarked and the GPX track downloadable from the official sheet. On site, the Rosière lake, its Père Fritsch botanical trail and its beginners' via ferrata round out the outing.
