The Lac de Roselend is a dammed reservoir in the commune of Beaufort, Savoie, at 1 557 m. It covers 3,2 km² (320 ha) and reaches 130 m deep.
Can you swim here? No. Swimming is forbidden and the rule is published: « Attention la baignade et toute activité nautique en autonomie sur le lac de Roselend, sont strictement interdites. » The lake is also absent from the 43 declared bathing sites in Savoie, so no water quality is monitored here.
The road shuts for winter. Access is by the RD 925 and RD 902, which crosses the Cormet de Roselend (1 968 m). For 2026 the reopening was announced for 22 May 2026 at 18:00. The 2026-2027 closing date is not published yet, and we do not recycle last year's. Check the road before you set out: these dates depend on the snow.
There is a car park on site; no rate is published and we do not infer one. No official source says anything about accessibility here: neither accessible nor inaccessible — unknown. No rule specific to this lake was found in the official sources read. Ask the commune.
This page is built on official sources and nothing else: the site's manager, the commune, the park, the tourist office, the national bathing-water register. Where two of them contradict each other, both are given and the gap is flagged — we do not choose for you. Where they are silent, the field stays empty rather than guessed.
When the road is open — 2026 reopening announced for 22 May 2026 at 18:00. Outside that window there is no road access.
