The Cormet de Roselend crosses the divide between the Beaufortain and the Tarentaise at 1,968 m, linking Beaufort to Bourg-Saint-Maurice on the D 925. Cormet is the Savoyard word for a mountain pass, which is why the name is never "col de Roselend".
The pass is bare. The Arêches-Beaufort tourist office says so plainly: no restaurant, no public toilets, a car park and nothing else. Motorhomes are allowed and dogs are accepted.
Treat the dates with care. The 2026 reopening was reported by two outlets four hours apart — 14:00 per Savoie News, 18:00 per ODS Radio — under a date that cannot exist: "Friday 16 May", when 16 May 2026 was a Saturday. On Sunday 24 May the road closed from 08:30 to 12:00 for La Roselende.
On the D 925 from Beaufort to the south-west or Bourg-Saint-Maurice to the east. Savoie News and ODS Radio place the route on "RD 902 and RD 925"; en.wikipedia and 123 Savoie give the D 925 alone.
Open in MapsFrom Beaufort: 20.3 km and 1,227 m of climbing at 6.0% average, 9.06% at the steepest. From Bourg-Saint-Maurice: 19.3 km and 1,154 m at 6.0%, 8.9% at the steepest. These figures come only from en.wikipedia and are corroborated by no French source.
Open in MapsThe pass is closed in winter. The tourist office gives two different periods on the same page — "15 May to 20 October" and "generally accessible from 15 June to 15 October". Neither is an official département announcement: check the road status before setting off.
La Roselende, Sunday 24 May 2026: road closed to vehicles from 08:30 to 12:00, cyclists allowed to descend from 10:00. Rider check-in from 08:15 at Beaufort and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

1,968 m. It is the only published figure and every source consulted agrees.
The département reopened it in mid-May 2026, but the two available sources disagree on the time (14:00 or 18:00) and give an impossible date, "Friday 16 May", when 16 May 2026 was a Saturday. No 2026 closing date is published.
No. The tourist office states there is no restaurant and no public toilets at the pass, only a car park.
Yes, dogs are accepted and motorhomes are allowed, per the Arêches-Beaufort tourist office.
"Cormet" is the Savoyard word for a mountain pass. Saying "col de Roselend" is a tautology; local usage and the road signs say Cormet.
