Become a partnerFifteen asphalted kilometres along the Isère, from Aime to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, on a gradient so gentle you ride it without noticing — and a bathing lake halfway.

The Avenue Verte de Tarentaise 'links Aime to Bourg Saint Maurice' over 15 kilometres and 'follows the Isère' the whole way. The commune of Les Versants d'Aime states the surface — asphalted — and who may use it: 'cyclists', 'joggers', 'rollerbladers' and 'walkers'. The tourist office grades it 'Green level - Easy', with a '-100m' drop heading Aime to Bourg, waymarking, and free access.
The rules are short and, more unusually, published: 'Motor vehicles are forbidden' except by authorisation, 'Horses are forbidden', and 'Dogs must be kept on a lead'. For services, the tourist office lists a picnic area, public toilets and parking nearby — plus one stop worth making: 'At 8 km from Bourg St Maurice you will find a lake where you can swim and eat, and also recharge your e-bike.' The route also passes close to the whitewater bases of Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Landry.
Open 'from 31/03 to 31/10 every day', free of access. Heading Aime to Bourg-Saint-Maurice the profile drops a hundred metres; the other way the climb stays very gentle, which is what earns the green grading. The lake 8 km from Bourg-Saint-Maurice makes the obvious halt on a family outing — swimming and e-bike charging included.
