What is Plage de Châtillon

Plage de Châtillon occupies the northern shore of the Lac du Bourget, at Chindrieux. Supervised swimming 27 June to 30 August 2026, 13:00 to 19:00. Entry is free.

The regional health agency files this bathing site under the name « PLAGE DE CHATILLON » and rates it Excellent for the 2025 season, the most recent one published. 2022 to 2025 series: 4E · 4E · 5E · 4E.

Parking is paid in summer (07/06 → 15/09) at €5 a day, €3 from 16:00 — and free outside that window. No official source says anything about accessibility here: neither accessible nor inaccessible — unknown. Dogs are not allowed — « même en laisse durant la saison estivale », not even on a lead during the summer season. Grand Lac applies the same rule on all nine of its beaches.

One discrepancy worth knowing before you set out. For this beach, and only this one, the tourist office's French page says « du 28/06 au 31/08 » while Grand Lac, which manages it, publishes « du 27/06 au 30/08 ». We keep the manager's dates and leave the gap visible rather than smoothing it away.

Grand Lac runs nine beaches around the Lac du Bourget. The supervision rule and the animals rule are the same at every one of them; price, parking, accessibility and water rating are not, and have to be read beach by beach. That is why this page gives them separately rather than under one banner.
