ViaRhôna en Chautagne (EV17)

The ViaRhôna, or EuroVelo 17, runs down the Rhône from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean over some 815 km. In Savoie it crosses the Chautagne: AF3V describes the section 'from Usinens (V62) to Chanaz (V63)', 27.6 km straddling the Ain and Savoie départements, on asphalt, with an announced split of '60% shared roads; 40% greenway'. A genuinely dedicated stretch follows the Rhône between the 'rond-point de la Loi' and Chanaz, via Vions, built in 2012.

On the Savoie side, the communes on or along the route are Serrières-en-Chautagne (hamlet of Le Mollard), Vions and Chanaz, the Savoie terminus at the mouth of the Canal de Savières. Note: on this stage, Usinens is in Haute-Savoie, Seyssel is shared with the Ain, and both Culoz and Belley are in the Ain — these are not Savoie communes.

Chanaz is the junction with the V63 'La Belle Via': from the Canal de Savières, a boat cruise links Lac du Bourget and Aix-les-Bains. We found no official recommended season or winter status for the Savoie portion alone, so those are left blank rather than estimated.
