What is Valloire

Valloire, 'nestled between the Col du Télégraphe and the Col du Galibier', opens the Galibier-Thabor domain, linked with Valmeinier: '160 km of runs spread over 5 mountainsides', from 1,430 to 2,750 m, with '70% of runs above 2,000 m' and a snowpark 'sitting at 2,300 m'. Valloire's own flank — the Sétaz and the Crey du Quart — weighs 80 km, within the domain's '90 runs: 8 black, 33 red, 32 blue, 17 green' and '30 modern lifts including 2 gondolas in the resort's heart'. Worth knowing: there is 'no shuttle between Valloire and Valmeinier' — the link is by the slopes alone.

Three beginner areas stack up: Thymel (via the Sétaz gondola) and la Séa (via the Brive gondola), on special passes — and 'the Les Verneys drag lift, free of access, in the hamlet of the same name, is a calm, family space'. The Les Verneys plateau also hosts cross-country skiing, 'ideal' per the resort — its mileage is unpublished, so we do not invent it. In the village, the ice rink bears a local glide-sports name: Philippe Candéloro.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When does the 2026-27 season open?

In three stages: previews on 5-6 December 2026, the Valloire massif alone from 12 to 18 December, then the whole Galibier-Thabor domain from 19 December 2026 to 9 April 2027.

Can you reach Valmeinier other than by the slopes?

No: the resort states there is 'no shuttle between Valloire and Valmeinier' — the two Galibier-Thabor resorts link up on skis only.

Where do you learn, and for how much?

Three areas: the Les Verneys drag lift, free, in the Les Verneys hamlet — 'a calm, family space'; Thymel and la Séa, perched and reached by gondola with special day or progressive passes.

Is the snow reliable?

'70% of runs above 2,000 m', a domain reaching 2,750 m and a snowpark at 2,300 m — altitude does the work across these five Maurienne mountainsides.

Where do you park?

Parking: Covered church car park in the centre: '91 spaces, 2 hours free, €25 / 24 h' (town hall), max height 2.60 m, animals accepted; regulated parking on avenue de la Vallée d'Or and rue de la Sétaz.
