What is Solaise Gondola
The Solaise gondola links Val-d'Isère to the Tête de Solaise, at 2,560 m, where several walking trails begin.
Its distinguishing feature is rare: it is free for pedestrians. Val d'Isère publishes a dedicated page on free lifts, and the advertised prices cover mountain bikes only — €23 a day, €84 a week. Across every lift documented in this repository, this is the only free access recorded.
A second feature, less pleasant if you get it wrong: mountain bikes are not allowed. Only walkers and paragliders ride. Bikes take the Olympique cable car instead.
