The Téléphérique de la Grande Motte runs from 3,034 m to 3,456 m above Tignes, on the glacier of the same name. You reach it first by the Funiculaire Perce-Neige, which climbs in tunnel to 3,032 m from Val Claret — whose altitude is given as 2,111 m by one source and 2,100 m by another.
The cable car is a 1975 Von Roll, modernised between 2016 and 2018, 1,696 m of developed length for 421 m of vertical, about five minutes of travel. Its cabin capacity is not publishable: the installation is historically labelled “TPH115” but the refit installed 100-seat cabins.
Since 1 June 2026 the ski area has been operated by SPL ALTTA, replacing Compagnie des Alpes and its subsidiary STGM. The most important point for a 2026 visitor: summer skiing on the glacier is announced for 20 June to 15 July only, while pedestrian lift operation is announced to 28 August. Four end-of-season dates circulate on official channels and no source reconciles them.
To ski: 20 June to 15 July 2026 per the operator. To ride up on foot: to 28 August 2026 per the same source, but three other end dates circulate. Contact ALTTA before travelling.
