Aiguille Rouge Cable Car

The Téléphérique de l'Aiguille Rouge serves the highest point of the Les Arcs ski area, above Arc 2000, in the commune of Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Its operator, ADS Domaine de Montagne, states an arrival at 3,226 m. The Aiguille Rouge summit itself is given as 3,227 m by topographic sources, while IGN returns 3,226.3 m on its own summit point: the one-metre gap is a discrepancy between sources, not a measured difference. Station and summit remain two different points, and they are constantly conflated.

At the top: a 360° panorama over the French, Italian and Swiss Alps, a suspended footbridge built in 2018 with the Réserve Naturelle Nationale des Hauts de Villaroger, and an orientation table. One stage lower, the Varet panoramic terrace — which the operator places at 2,700 m — has an orientation table and a café. That figure is the operator's for the terrace and must not be read as the bottom-station altitude, which no operator source publishes.

It is also the start of the Aiguille Rouge run, which drops from 3,226 m to Villaroger (1,200 m): 2,000 m of vertical over 7 km, black then red. In summer, this is one of the few lifts where dogs on a lead are explicitly allowed.

In summer 2026 the lift is listed open from 4 July only — neither in the early-season window (12 June – 3 July) nor the late one (30 August – 13 September). Hours are published live only.
